The Golden Turkey Awards

There are so many “turkeys” to choose from that I don’t even know where to begin!  And, of course, people can add to this list.  They come from the worlds of politics, political commentary and the “arts” – and I use the last word loosely.  So, let us  begin:

 

Mayor Bloomberg of NYC (a/k/a Mayor “Bumbleberg”):  This carpetbagger – and I call him a carpetbagger because he has no idea of what goes on in the other boroughs (those pesky places were millions of people – not his pals – return at night after the travails of the NYC transit system) still insists on speaking ”Spanish” at his uninformative press conferences and giving out useless, paternalistic, nanny-state gems of advice such as (after dozens of schools had lost heat because of Hurricane Sandy): “Dresso the kidos warminglos, muchos sweateros.”

 

He should fire his Spanish coach.   We don’t need a bored rich guy to tell us to dress our kids warmly when they are traveling to a school which has no heat.  Fortunately, we will not be stuck with another mayoral term of this silly guy who dreams of becoming king and thinks he is a “player”.  He is not.  This is the same man who did not want to cancel the NYC Marathon after Hurricane Sandy had destroyed half of Staten Island and large parts of Brooklyn, Queens and well, those other “forgotten” boroughs that subsidize his pet projects. Put a fork in Bloomberg:  he is irrelevant.

 

The New York City of Department of Education – and again, this has to go back to Bloomberg’s mismanagement of the New York City public schools.  Bloomberg has the “brilliant” idea of destroying large high schools and turning them into a bunch of smaller schools.  He has succeeded in destroying Murray Bergstraum High School for Business Careers by sending in the clowns – that is, students who do not with to be there and who have turned this once jewel of the NYC public school system into a hell hole which will eventually be closed.

 

Of course, he blames the teachers instead of blaming himself or Chancellor Dennis Walcott who is too busy handing out the Morning After Pill to high school girls without the permission of their parents.  Isn’t education great?  Hopefully the teachers who still care will fight the mismanagement of this high school by the DOE and manage to get rid of the students who refuse to learn.

 

The Voters:  they contradict themselves.  In 2010, they seemed eager to be rid of Obamacare, and seemed genuinely upset by President Obama’s “apology tour” and lack of pride inAmerica.  In 2012, they gave him another term in spite of all the evidence that he would continued to destroy the economy.  They will get what they deserve but the rest of us will also suffer.  Life is not fair!

 

Certain Hollywood Actresses:  Eva Longoria among others.  The actresses who appeared at the Democratic convention to promote abortion on demand will eventually pay for it at the box office.  Even Mark Sanchez has had enough of Ms. Longoria.  As for Scarlett Johanssen, her former husband has married Blake Lively.  Much joy to the newly weds!

 

New York State’s Foster Care System:  We continue to hear the complaint “You don’t care about those kids . . . nobody wants to adopt them.”  The truth be told, many of us would like to adopt but can’t because these kids are permanently warehoused under the auspices of a corrupt government agency.  Return them to their parents or let them be adopted!  Foster care is a cash cow for many NYC neighborhoods.  End it.

 

James Grissom:  Our stalker and troll has a name. He is a hateful gay man, a dropout from Louisiana State University, and an anti-Semite (in addition to being a Christian-basher) who has an unhealthy obsession with straight women and their children (hide your kids).  If you see him in the street, proceed with caution as he enjoys issuing threats to women and their children.  He also has a history of name dropping and taking advantage of alcoholic once great writers and elderly actresses whom most people can no longer identify.  He thought he could drive us out of writing.  He is wrong.  He is a loser.
